Climate Corps Expansion
The Climate Corps Expansion is modeled on the California Climate Action Corps (CCAC). Launched in 2020 by California Volunteers, Office of the Governor, with funding from the California Volunteers Fund, the CCAC is the country’s first state-level Climate Corps. Empowering Californians to take action to safeguard the climate, hundreds of Fellows have participated in climate projects through service and, since inception, over 20,000 volunteers have been engaged.

The Climate Corps Expansion, launched in September 2023, leverages this model to scale state-led Climate Corps across the country. Eight states – Arizona, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Mexico, North Carolina, Utah, and Vermont – have joined California in this historic initiative that deploys the power of service to tackle the climate crisis.
